Spring is here and the WA sun is out…for now! To celebrate the new season Dick’s will be releasing the Hefeweizen, Imperial IPA and Raspberry Tripel starting May through the end of July. Dick’s Hefeweizen is a light, easy drinking, true to German Hefeweizen. The mash consists of malted white wheat and 2-row barley which gives this beer its light body and crisp finish. It is hopped throughout the boil and fermented with classic German hefe yeast. Our Imperial IPA is a part of our Dedication Series. Take our Dick’s IPA, give it more malt, more hops, more alcohol and what you end up with is a beer that you won’t soon forget. Our Imperial IPA is a fantastic double IPA with an extreme dosing of Columbus hops throughout the boil; the bitterness comes across right away. With such a high grain bill, the balance of malt gives way to a very balanced beer. The Imperial IPA was released seasonally starting in 2012 so it has been a long awaited beer for our Dick’s fans!

This year the Raspberry Tripel will available in kegs and 22 oz. bottles and once it’s gone, it’s GONE! This Belgian style ale is like our Belgian Triple but we threw in a little summer twist, “a raspberry twist”! We ferment this beer with a classic Belgian yeast strain which results in a crisp, champagne-like ale. We add 240 pounds of fresh raspberry puree at the end of the fermentation to give it a tart and dry finish. The Dick’s crew is excited to release this beer in bottles this spring season as last year it was gone in a blink of an eye!

The month of May not only brings new beers but Seattle Beer Week from May 9 through May 19, and we have a lot planned for these fun 10 days of drinking! Head Brewer Dave will be participating in the Iron Brewer competition at Beveridge Place Pub in West Seattle on Sunday, May 12 from 5 – 8 pm. Dave will be squaring off against Harmon to create a beer with the special ingredients of pineapple and macadamia. The ladies of Dick’s Brewing Company, Julie and Katie, have been invited to participate at the Thirsty Sisters Event Present: Northwest Women and Beer at Pike Brewing on Monday, May 13. You can also find us at Naked City Brewery and Taphouse, Ballard Public Station House and more! Visit our Dick’s Events Calendar for more details for our Seattle Beer Week schedule! Happy Drinking!
