Raising money for cancer, a toast to Dick Young and ushering in 30 years of delicious meat
CENTRALIA, WA – On September 21, Dick’s Brewing Company hosted its 3rd Annual Beer for a Cure fundraiser, raising over $5,500 for American Cancer Society. This year the home brew competition received over 80 home brew entries from around the Puget Sound. The brewery celebrated with over 200 guests bidding on silent auction items, entering to win great raffle prizes, dancing the night away to the Chris Guenther Band, and toasting with a Dick’s brew in hand. The first place winner of the home brew competition will work with the Brewers at Dick’s Brewing Company to scale up their winning recipe to be brewed at the brewery. Chris Merritt took home the first place award with his “Ruthless Red”. The Irish Red ale had nice caramel notes, with a smooth sweet finish. Chris’ winning brew will be released at the brewery between January and February of next year. John Johnson came in second place with his Porter, Dean Lennox coming in third place with his Rye, and Rob Horn finished in fourth place with his Milk Stout. We want to give a big thank you to all of our attendees, participants, donors, and volunteers.
Dick’s Brewing Company will be hosting their 4th Annual Dick Young Memorial BBQ on Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 4 – 8 pm. The annual fundraiser is a toast to Dick and his support to Pope’s Kids Place, a non-profit organization in Centralia that provides dental, medical, respite and preschool services for children. Dick’s Brewery will be open to the general public, must be 21 years or older, and a portion of the proceeds will go to Pope’s Kids Place. The Brewery will be welcoming the Backfire Band and serving pulled pork sandwiches and sides for $15.
Northwest Sausage & Deli will be celebrating our 30th Anniversary all day on Thursday, October 24, 2013. Dick Young started Northwest Sausage & Deli in 1983 as a place where everyone can enjoy Old World style smoked sausage. Today the Deli keeps Dick’s dream alive by offering a variety of meats smoked right here in our modern electric air smokehouses. Come see what Dick started 30 years ago and enter to win raffle prizes throughout October. The raffle winners will be announced at our open house party on October 24 from 5 – 8 pm. We hope you can join us to toast 30 years of great meat!

Our Dick’s Dedication Series Double Danger and Seasonal Double Diamond Winter Ale Are Ready for Winter!
Winter is here and that means more tasty beer from Dick’s Brewing Company. We are kicking the season off in sporting style as our Dick’s Double Diamond Winter Ale is now on tap at Century Link Field starting Friday, November 2 at the “Craft House” in Section 137.
Dick’s Double Danger Ale is made with love and respect for our mentor Dick Young. In his honor we brewed the Double Danger with generous amounts of black malt giving it a strong roasted flavor that finishes sweet and very balanced with large amounts of Magnum hops. Our Brew Crew is proud to present this beer to you in memory of Dick.
Dick’s Double Diamond Winter Ale combines Northwest premium 2-row malted barley and ample rich Munich malt. Dick’s Brewers, Dave and Parker, add a full bag of sweet caramel malt and lots of malted white wheat, with a touch of highly roasted black barley to give complexity to this ale. To give this beer it’s backbone we add plenty of Northwest hops in the brew kettle. If you like your ales with a balanced bitterness and a nice finish try this beer to keep you toasty warm on a cold night at Century Link Field.
Bring your growler in this season and fill it up with some Double Danger or Double Diamond brew! Our Brewery is open for tours and beer every Friday evening from 3-7 pm at the Tasting Room, and every third Saturday of the month! Cozy up this winter with a nice cold Dick’s Beer!

Three years ago on October 25th, 2009 we lost a father, a friend, a boss, an entrepreneur, a son, a teacher and some good jokes. Come celebrate Dick’s life with us on Saturday, October 20th, 2012 @ the Brewery from 3:00-8:00 and raise a pint in memory of Dick.
Dick always supported Pope’s Kids Place, so we continue this by donating the proceeds from the Memorial to Pope’s. We will be serving Pulled Pork Sandwiches with sides for $15.
This year we are welcoming the Backfire Band who will be playing. A suggested $5 donation per person will go to Pope’s from the Band.
Please join us to remember the founder of Dick’s Brewing Company!
